Al igual que hay canciones, fragancias, películas… que marcan una parte de nuestra vida, también hay ciudades, y una de ellas es Colonia (Köln) en Alemania.

No sé que tiene, pero desde el primer momento que la pisé hace ya 4 años, me sentí parte de ella. Me está costando muchísimo realizar este post, porque quiero contar todo en muy poco espacio y es un poco difícil. Así que os dejo fotos y os voy contando un poquito.

Just as there are songs, scents, movies ...  making part of our life, there are cities, and one of them is Cologne (Köln) in Germany.

I don´t know what it has, but from the very first moment I stepped there four years ago, I felt I was part of it. I'm having a lot of problems to do this post, because I want to show everything in a very little space and it´s a bit difficult. So I show you photos and I tell you a bit in there.

1. Catedral : Monumento de estilo gótico más visitado de Alemania, con una altura de 157 (y unos 501 escalones creo). La primera vez que la vi, no puede dejar de mirarla, estaba absorta en su imagen. Como mínimo una vez al año subo hasta arriba, tras el esfuerzo, cuando ves las impresionantes vistas, y te comes una berlina, te das cuenta de que ha merecido la pena.

1. Cathedral:  the most visited gothic monument in Germany, with a height of 157 (and about 501 steps I think). The first time I saw it, I couldn’t  stop looking at it, I was absorbed in its image. At least once a year I go up to the top, after exercise, when you see the stunning views, and eat a “Berliner”, you realize it was worth it.

2.Puente de los candados: cruza el río Rhin y es una pasada pasearse por allí de la cantidad de candados que hay. La tradición (como cualquier otro puente con candados) dice que hay que tirar la llave al río. Las vistas, una vez más, te dejan sin palabras. 

2. Locks Bridge: it crosses the Rhine River and it´s an amazing walk through with all the quantity of locks out there. Tradition (as any other bridge with padlocks) says to throw the key into the river. The views, once again, leave you speechless.

3.Schildergasse: Es la calle principal de compras en Colonia y junto con Ehrenstrasse, son visitas obligadas para las adictas a las compras. Se transitan genial si acompañas el paseo con un Bretzel. 

3.Schildergasse: It´s the main shopping street in Cologne and along with Ehrenstrasse, are a must for shopaholics. It is great if you accompany the transit ride with a Bretzel.

4. Barrio Belga ( Belgischen Viertels): personalmente uno de mis barrios preferidos. Ideal para perderse en pleno centro de la ciudad disfrutando de unos edificios de ensueño.  Perfecto para jugar al juego de “yo viviría en esa casa, bueno no en esa otra, o la de allá”.

4. Belgian Quarter (Belgisches Viertels): personally one of my favorite neighborhoods. Perfect for disappearing  in the heart of the city enjoying a dream buildings. Perfect for playing the game of "I live in that house, not, better in the other one, or that one."

5. Rudolfplatz, Neumarkt, Heumarkt, Barbarossaplatz…: Plazas obligadas a visitar… Y para los amantes de la cerveza, nunca irse sin tomarse una buena Kölsch

6. Hohenzollernring: perfecta zona para las noches llenas de marcha.

7. Lindt Schokolade Museum.: Chic@s, el museo de chocolate!! Aunque esperaba algo más de él, creo que es divertido visitarlo.

8. Royal Cupcakes: un lugar mágico para visitarlo bien, tras una tarde de shopping, o una merienda con las personas adecuadas. Sus cupcakes son simplemente deliciosos, primero los comes con la vista y después los devoras (literalmente). Están todos basados en la familia real inglesa. 

8. Royal Cupcakes: a magical place to visit right, after an afternoon of shopping, or a snack with the right people. Their cupcakes are simply delicious, first you eat them with your eyes and then devour (literally). They are all based on the British royal family.

9. Karneval: empieza el 11/11 a las 11:11, y termina el miércoles de ceniza tras una semana de festejos. Pura cultura, que realmente si no eres de allí cuesta entender y, en donde, el famoso carácter alemán desaparece para dar lugar a un ambiente inolvidable.

9. Karneval: starts on 11/11 at 11:11 and ends on Ash Wednesday after a week of festivities. Pure culture, if you're not from there, it´s really hard to understand and in which , the famous German character disappears to give rise to an unforgettable atmosphere.

10. Weihnachtsmarkt: O lo que es lo mismo… El mercado navideño. Típicos de Alemania, en Colonia hay varios, y todos los años los visito. Es como adentrarse en un mundo mágico, en un cuento… Ahí puedes disfrutar de los dulces típicos navideños alemanes: obladen spekulatus, manzana asada o el famoso “vino caliente” (está bueno de verdad).

10. Weihnakt: Or what´s the same ... The Christmas market. Typical of Germany, in Cologne there are several, and I visit them every year. It's like stepping into a magical world, in a story ... There, you can enjoy the German Christmas sweets: Obladen spekulatus, baked apple or the famous "hot wine" (it's really good).

Cuando empiezo a hablar de Colonia me tienen que parar, estoy completamente enamorada de esta ciudad (en invierno un poco menos, aunque con la nieve también tiene su encanto) y estoy contando los días para volver en menos de 1 mes.

When I start talking about Cologne I have to stop, I'm completely in love with this city (in winter a little less, but with the snow also it´s charmy) and I'm counting the days to return in less than 1 month.
